A Place That Shaped Me

“My school” is the one who has taught me how to enjoy, understand and live life. This is the school which gave me fortitude to take big steps from my small and slow steps. So, for the progress of my life, my school is responsible. Even today, the source of inspiration for me is my school. It doesn’t matter if it is a school in India or a school in America, for me, my school is the bestower of my destination.
I was born in a small village of India. Both of my parents were teachers so, since my birth, I grew up hearing the word ‘school, and since then, I am familiar with it.  Since the early days of my life, in my little mind, the curiosity to learn more about school rose up. When I turned five, and stepped in my new school’s campus for the first time, my school welcomed me. It embraced me and gave me the comfort of love which is the reason why, even today, I consider my school like a ‘Mother’.
Firstly, if I talk about the kind of education that my school has given me, then I would say that it gave me education which has advantageous outcome. In India, in most of the schools, the students are taught every subject in regional language so, they have hard time learning English. However, since the school in which I studied was English medium, my basis of English language became strong. As a result, even though English is my second language, I am in Honors English class. Because of English I am self reliant and am capable to compete with world, where English is so significant. Today, neither do I have hard time learning anything nor understanding anything in English. For granting me with all this, I bow with respect to my beloved school.
It doesn’t matter how intelligent, smart or educated a person is but if that person doesn’t have self confidence, then he or she falls behind. I can present in front of students and teachers on any subject, and this is the result of my self confidence. When I see confidence in myself, a question arises in my mind that who planted the seeds of self confidence in me?
Then I remember my school where I participated in small or big events, stage programs, and monitoring (a monitor is the student who is assigned by a teacher to look after the whole class, of at least 40 students, in the teacher’s absence). Along with this, my school has also taught me wonderful things such as friendship, appropriate behavior with the teachers, good manners with the elders, meekness, etiquette and honesty.
It is believed that a healthy mind dwell in healthy body. In my physical and mental development, my school is accountable. Due to the sports that I played in my school and my school’s gift of good thoughts, I own a healthy body with a healthy mind. This has rewarded me with the ability to continuously fight against the upcoming challenges of my life.
All my schools, from first grade to twelfth grade, have provided me with something to learn and understand. This is the reason why I perceive my schools as the bestower of my destination. When I see myself receiving education from developed countries like America, there is no bound to my happiness. In the end, I will only say that whatever I am today is only and only because of my mother-like school. That is the reason why, I salute ‘my school’ hundred times.
